This morning at the Web Content: Mobile conference Ahava Leibtag filled us in on her methods for testing mobile sites and mobile content. Here are a few takeaways from her session:
- When you’re testing, you need to think about how your users are experiencing your content. You need to narrow down specifically exactly what your users are looking for.
- Use an iterative approach with small user numbers who are in the user scenario environments.
- Use moderated usability testing to test the content. You’ll never know what your users think about your content unless you ask them.
- Ask direct questions about the content and let users talk about their impressions from there.
- Assumption is the mother of all screw ups. The old adage really is true (If you assume, you’ll make an ASS of U and ME).
